If you try to activate your Id-Extras script or add-on in 2019, if it has already been activated in a previous version of InDesign, the activation will fail with an error message. With 2019, Adobe’s change means this will no longer be possible. This means that since 2012, when the Adobe Creative Cloud was introduced, it has been possible to use Id-Extras scripts and add-ons on all versions of InDesign concurrently. The licensing system for Id-Extras scripts is based (in part) on InDesign’s internal serial number. This means that InDesign CS6, CC, CC 2014, CC 2015, CC 2017 and CC 2018 all shared the same serial number. Since 2012, every Creative Cloud version of InDesign retained the same serial number. The new InDesign comes with a new internal serial number. If that's the case, you may need to contact Adobe to get your activation count reset. The new release of InDesign, 2019, is here with some great new features.īut there is one change that may be unwanted. In that case, when you try to activate the software on a new computer, the Adobe activation server will prevent you because it already has two activation counts of that software registered and thinks you're trying to activate it a third time. Where people hit problems is when they reformat their computer, or it dies, and the software was not deactivated first. However, the software can only be activated for use on two of those installations at any one time. The software can be installed on as many computers as you like. The limit is with the simultaneous activations. There is no limit on that that I'm aware of. You can install, uninstall, activate and deactivate the software as often as you like. That single license comes with a maximum of two activations at any one time. When you bought CS6, you got one license (serial number) to use the software forever, on whatever computer you wish providing that computer has the compatible hardware and operating system required to run the software. Sounds like you misunderstand how licensing and activation works. I dont even understand for what where it is for or what I need to deactivate where. otherwise, you do not need to deactivate a previous activation." Your previous anwser -" if you see an activation count error, you need to deactivate a previous activation. But I dont wanna use up my serial number on a mac Im not gonna have for long. But I also need the cs pack for now as I need it for work. I am still waiting for my new computer to come back- but I have one now that I borrow meanwhile. I would maybe like to get a serial number I can use for my installation, as then 1 of the times I dont think qualify as a proper use of it- Reparing a product that didnt work after I paid for it, and didnt not get repaird even after the re-installation.īut If I can use the serial number again- there is no problem. Then 1 of the times I used it was to un-install and re-install to try to get the product itself to make it work- that was defect just a few months after i bought it- ( aka my indesign have basically never function) this by recommendation from an earlier conversation on this forum with an abode employee. If the fact is that I can only use the Serial number I got when I bought the pack just 2 times. Well the "problem" is that I would like to install my cs6 pack on the new computer.
